How to create an Extra-Ordinary Relationship with your Child!

You are a V.ery I.mportant P.art of your Child’s Success and Self Esteem and most parents just don’t know what it takes to connect with their son or daughter. I have worked with over 250,000 young people across the country from ages 9 to 22 and the issues are the same everywhere. Students these days don’t believe in themselves, they question their innate dreams and desires, and they feel pressured to be perfect.

Below is a brief outline of what you will hear when I speak to your Parents.

How to Parent your VIP!!!!
  1. Make your child feel important
    1. Make eye contact when child is talking to you
    2. Position your body where they are on your level
    3. Thoughtfully listen and comment on what they are saying (ask questions)
  2. Take a genuine interest in one thing they love
    1. Support their interests
    2. Make time to share in what they are interested in
  3. Celebrate the positive
    1. Compliment their best assets
    2. No compliment too small
  4. Resist comparisons
    1. No sibling or peer comparisons
    2. Each child blossoms at their own pace
  5. Let them feel their feelings
    1. Allow child to feel disappointment, sadness, anger
    2. Acknowledge the feeling and help them work through them in a positive way

Special Note: - I am writing a book titled What your Kids Tell me that they Won’t Tell You. I had 300 students contribute their thoughts to the book at my summer leadership camp – The Camp of Champs – www.campofchampsusa.com. Their input will be an eye-opening experience you must hear and read!

One example:

  • I wish my parents would give me compliments to boost my self - esteem.
  • I wish my parents would not embarrass me when my friends are over.
  • When there is a life decision made that concerns the family, I wish my parents would include my input into the decision so that I feel a part of the family.
